| Thursday, 27 December, 2001, 18:52 GMT Christmas addict to get cold turkey ![]() Andy Park has eaten 5,450 turkeys in 10 years A man who has celebrated Christmas every day for the past 10 years has been told it is badly affecting his health. Andy Park, 42, of Melksham in Wiltshire, has been warned by his doctor he can no longer carry on with his diet of turkey, roast potatoes and sherry. Since he started his continuing commemoration of the festive season, including watching the Queen's speech every day, his weight has increased to 19 stone (121kg). He is now asking for suggestions to help him wean himself off his Yuletide feasts.
This has been washed down with 8,000 glasses of sherry and 1,560 bottles of champagne. He said: "Now my GP has told me my over-indulgence is killing me and I've got to cut out all the dinners or I will be singing with the angels myself next Christmas. "I don't know what to do - on the one hand I love all the Christmas nosh but I also want to be around next year." "I always thought eating loads of vegetables would do me good - so maybe it's the sherry and the champagne that have done the damage. "Exercising to keep the fat away is a problem because I'm always too full and too tired to go for a run," he said. Christmas single Mr Park's Christmas addiction stretches beyond just the food. He has also got through 30 artificial Christmas trees, 10,000m of tinsel and 10,000 balloons. He calculates that this has cost him 100,000 since he started in 1991. But even if he does kick his Christmas habit, he does still have one December dream he hopes to fulfil. Mr Park, who runs an electrical business, has produced five records about his exploits and hopes one day to make it to Number One in the charts so he can appear on the Christmas Top of the Pops. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
