Police seek ban on prostitute
Prostitute talking to man in a car
The woman has been fined up to 7,000 for soliciting
Police are trying to ban a prostitute from working in an area in London.

The 31-year-old woman, from south Tottenham, has been charged with more than 100 soliciting offences and has collected up to 7,000 in fines over a three years.

Police officers are seeking to impose an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) to prevent the woman from working in the Seven Sisters Road area.

They have joined forces with Haringey Council and are hoping Tottenham Magistrates Court will impose the order on Wednesday.

'Community concerns'

It is the first time an anti-social behaviour order has been sought by the Metropolitan Police to crack down on prostitution in London.

Chief Inspector Adam Barton, based at Tottenham Police Station, said: "We have been seeking this order to deal with long standing community concerns regarding the anti-social behaviour associated with prostitution and crack-cocaine in south Tottenham.

"We will use every means at our disposal to improve the quality of life of local residents in this, one of the most deprived areas of London."

If granted, the order will prevent the woman from the area around Seven Sisters Road.

Officers hope this action will make it clear that prostitution will not be tolerated in Haringey.
