She criticised Damien Daley, the prisoner who said Stone had told him he committed the murders.

She said Daley had committed perjury in the first trial.

"I'm convinced beyond doubt that he has done it again."

She said she did not believe that her brother could have a fair trial.

"All of the members of the jury and everybody in Nottingham was aware of what happened."

She also criticised cell confessions.

"They should be banned and uncorroborated evidence should not be allowed into court.

Ms Stone said she had no comment to make to the Russell family but said it could be "no comfort for them knowing that the wrong man is in prison."

He asks anyone who has any fresh evidence to come forward and contact his solicitors

Stone's solicitor, Derek Hayward, said he was shocked by the verdict and read out a statement from Stone.

"He still maintains his innocence of the charges and in the event of fresh evidence emerging he will appeal.

"He asks anyone who has any fresh evidence to come forward and contact his solicitors."

Mr Hayward said he did not think the case against Stone was the "strongest" and said Daley's confession should be viewed with a great deal of caution.

When asked if Stone should now accept the verdict of this second jury, he said: "Why should he accept his guilt by two majority verdicts?"
