Flights from England and Wales will remain grounded until at least 0700 BST on Saturday.
Restrictions will be lifted in parts of Scottish and Northern Ireland airspace from 1900 BST on Friday.
Paul Haskins of the National Air Traffic Service said that passengers should contact their airline to confirm details of their flights.
