National Union of Journalists general secretary Jeremy Dear has warned that the BBC is at risk of being marginalised by opponents who would "benefit from the space the BBC vacates" if the organisation didn't stand up and defend itself.
The BBC is set to publish a strategy which could see its website scaled back and digital radio stations 6 Music and Asian Network closed.
