Gordon Brown praises 'extraordinary response' to Haiti

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has praised the "extraordinary" generosity of the British public, in response to the appeal for Haiti aid.

However he stressed that compassion must be matched by co-ordination on the ground, for relief to be effective.
