The chief executive of Eurostar, Richard Brown, has apologised to passengers who spent the night trapped in what he called "very unpleasant conditions" in the Channel Tunnel.

More than 2,000 people were stuck after five trains broke down.

Mr Brown said the trains failed when they moved from the freezing air in northern France into the much warmer conditions inside the tunnel.
