The Home Secretary Alan Johnson has welcomed the convictions of three men found guilty of plotting to blow up planes above the Atlantic with home-made liquid bombs.
He said he was "pleased" with the convictions, which "reaffirm the fact that we face a real and serious threat from terrorism"..
He described it as a ''particularly horrendous plot which would have led to murder and mayhem on an unimaginable scale.''
Mr Johnson said Operation Overt - mounted by MI5 and the police in 2006 - was the most significant they have ever undertaken.
