Brown will not resign, says Sugar

Political sources have confirmed that Sir Alan Sugar has been offered a job as an "enterprise tsar".

The tycoon met the prime minister at Downing Street on Thursday. The role is not a ministerial one, but is expected to come with a peerage.

The businessman spoke to the BBC shortly before the announcement.

When questioned about Mr Brown's authority after recent Cabinet resignations, Sir Alan said "people will always jump ship".
