The fire caused an explosion at the flat in Sterling Gardens. Prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC told the court firefighters found "a scene of almost unimaginable horror" when they arrived.

Police images show where the students' badly burnt bodies were discovered. Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo, both 23, had been tied up and stabbed almost 250 times during the attack.
