Labour's Shahid Malik has stepped down as justice minister pending an inquiry into claims about his expenses made in the Daily Telegraph.
The MP for Dewsbury is being investigated for alleged claims he breached the ministerial code by benefiting from subsidised rent.
Meanwhile the Daily Telegraph has published allegations against Bury North MP David Chaytor, claiming he received almost £13,000 of public money for a Westminster flat.
The BBC has not been able to speak to Mr. Chaytor, who is reportedly on a trip to the US, but the paper says he has described the situation as an "unforgivable error".
Political correspondent Carole Walker reports.
