John Dunford, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, says the problems with the Sats test system were not of Ken Boston's making.
Mr Boston has resigned as head of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority before the publication of a report into the chaotic handling of tests in the summer which left hundreds of thousands of pupils waiting for their results.
