Outdoor ice rinks have become as much a part of municipal Christmas celebrations as
street illuminations and Nordic pines.

Each year over a quarter of a million people visit Somerset House in London to skate against
the romantic backdrop of the 18th century courtyard - here is a glimpse of the sights
and sounds.
