Health risk remains 'very low' the FSA said

Most major retailers and caterers have traced and removed products affected by the Irish pork contamination scare, the UK Food Standards Agency has said.

A spokesman for the FSA said there was "generally good traceability in the UK food supply chain".

It also published a list of the meat processors in the Republic of Ireland affected by the incident.

On Saturday, Irish pork products were recalled amid fears that they had been contaminated with a toxic substance.

The spokesman said: "We've asked retailers to work with us to agree a date this week when we will be able to say with certainty that consumers can now buy Irish pork unaffected by contaminated feed."

The agency also published a list of companies in England which received affected pork products.

It said the risk to health remained "very low".

The FSA has identified five processing plants in the Irish Republic which have received contaminated pork and 12 processing plants in Northern Ireland that "potentially" received contaminated meat.

No pigs in Northern Ireland were fed contaminated feed, says the FSA.
