Det Supt Andy Brennan from West Yorkshire Police gave his reaction outside Leeds Crown Court following the conviction of Karen Matthews for kidnapping her daughter Shannon.
The 33-year-old and her co-accused Michael Donovan, 40, were convicted of kidnap, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.
