Race on to meet 2012 deadline

Now London has become the Olympic city, the race to build sporting facilities and vital infrastructure has stepped up a gear.

London Mayor Boris Johnson has said the Games will come in under budget, while the Development Authority says construction is currently ahead of schedule.
