Women's Institute reveals naked ambition

WI members pose with their Alternative calendar
Women's Institute members who posed nude for a naughty charity calendar could be hitting the silver screen.

The group from North Yorkshire is in the final stages of negotiations to sign a film contract.

Members of Rylstone and District WI are close to signing a film contract about their exploits after being approached by British and United States producers.

Naked ambition: one of the WI stars
It is nearly a year since the women, aged between 45 and 60, posed for the calendar wearing nothing but pearl necklaces, hats and strategically positioned floral displays and culinary equipment.

The Alternative WI Calendar, as it was named, attracted massive publicity.

It has so far raised more than 330,000 for Leukaemia Research.

The women have also agreed a deal for publication of an 18-month version of the calendar in the US and Canada with Australia and New Zealand set to follow.

All the profits will be donated to charity.

Inspired

Moyra Livesey, 51, who was Miss May on the calendar, said: "No final decision has been made yet. We certainly would not get anything as individuals whatever happened.

"The aim is to make as much money as possible for people suffering from leukaemia and lymphomas."

The 11 women who took part were inspired to produce the fund-raising calendar after the death from cancer of John Baker, husband of Angela Baker, one of the members of the institute.

Mrs Baker, who is the forefront of the film negotiations, was unavailable for comment.
