Baby Beckham to be boy racer

The Beckhams: Renowned for their expensive tastes

Footballer David Beckham has reportedly bought his nine-month-old son Brooklyn a 48,000 toy Ferrari, despite being fined in court last week for speeding.

The Sunday Mirror said Beckham and his wife Victoria, also known as Posh Spice, had splashed out on the red car, a scaled-down version of Beckham's own supercar, at London's luxury store, Harrods.

"David can't wait for Brooklyn to drive," Posh Spice, a member of pop sensation the Spice Girls, told the paper.

England and Manchester United soccer star Beckham, who owns seven cars, added: "At least one of us might get a chance to be on the road."

The family has developed a taste for Ferraris
The footballer has successfully appealed against an eight-month driving ban imposed by a magaistrate for driving 76mph in a 50mph zone. Beckham said he exceeded the speed limit because he was being hounded by a paparazzi photographer.

The return of Beckham's licence is temporary pending an appeal after a judge overruled the ban handed out on Thursday.

Brooklyn's two-seater convertible, which runs on diesel, comes complete with CD and DVD player and cream leather seats. It can reach up to 30mph, and the youngster has already sat in the driving seat to try it out for size.

He will be able to use his own keys to start the car, although his parents also have a manual switch box to control it themselves.
