Camra wants to see glasses marked with a third-of-pint line

The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra), which surveyed 1,000 drinkers about the measure, said the move would prove especially popular with young women.

It found that 61% of 25 to 34-year-old women thought it would help people try new beers in a "more responsible" way.

It is releasing the results of its research ahead of Camra's Great British Beer Festival which starts on Tuesday at London's Earl Court.

New glasses with the third-of-pint line marked on will be used at the festival.

Research and information manager Iain Loe said the measures would help people to sensibly sample different beers and ciders.

"The new stemmed glasses are stylish and will appeal to younger festival-goers, female drinkers and those who want to sample new beers," he added.
