Heather Foster was electrocuted on the line |
Rail maintenance company Jarvis has admitted breaching health and safety laws after an eight-year-old girl was electrocuted on a railway line. Heather Foster died in August 2000 after she wandered onto the high voltage line in Liverpool.
At Liverpool Crown Court Jarvis pleaded guilty to failing to ensure fencing around the line was secure for seven months before the incident.
Network Rail, formerly Railtrack, has already admitted similar charges.
Both organisations admitted failing to ensure the safety of fencing surrounding the line near to where the schoolgirl died, in the seven months prior to the accident, the court heard.
The case was adjourned until 1 November for a three-day sentencing hearing.
Heather Foster was trying to retrieve a football and fell down an embankment onto the track and was electrocuted on the line.
