Woman shot in 'motiveless' attack
Pauline Peart
Ms Peart died of a single gunshot wound
A woman was shot dead as she sat in her car with a friend in a "motiveless attack", the Old Bailey has heard.

Pauline Peart, 25, from Waltham Abbey, Essex, was talking to Yemmi Johnson in Tottenham, north London, last March said Orlando Pownall QC, prosecuting.

He said three youths approached the car and Mr Johnson saw a gun through the open window. He ducked and then heard a shot.

Maurice Miller, 20, from Enfield, north London, denies murdering Miss Peart.

He also denies having the gun with intent to endanger life.

'Trophy' gun

Three months after the attack, the murder weapon was recovered from a kitchen bin at a flat where Mr Miller had been staying, said Mr Pownall.

"Did he keep the gun as a trophy? What other reason would he have for keeping a gun used to kill a woman in a motiveless attack?" he added.

Miss Peart lived on her own and was a customer account manager with a finance company in north London.

She did not know Mr Miller, the prosecution said.

The trial was adjourned until Friday.
