Pop stars dressed in designer labels are on show

The fashion world has gone pop at the Albert Hall to help raise money for the Prince's Trust charity.

Celebrities from the showbiz world, and their dressmakers teamed up for the showbiz meets style extravaganza Fashion Rocks.

Singers Robbie Williams and Beyonce Knowles were among the acts taking part in the event hosted by actress and model Liz Hurley.

Designers such as Donatella Versace and Giorgio Armani were also there to watch the show - and their creations worn by the performers - on stage.

Top fashion models showcased the collections of 17 international designers on a specially designed catwalk.

Each show was accompanied by live music from a different band or singer.

Robbie's choice

Robbie Williams, wearing Versace, told the BBC he was offered two outfits to wear - one for arrival and one for performing.

"I thought that was a bit poncey, so I've gone for one," he said.

Liz Hurley is expected to wear 17 outfits during the event, which guests have paid around �250 a head to watch.

Prince Charles, whose charity hopes �750,000 will be raised from the night, arrived with Camilla Parker Bowles, who was dressed in a blue velvet fishtail dress with chiffon sleeves, designed by Robinson Valentine.

The Prince's Trust helps young people overcome personal barriers to get their lives working.

Duncan, from boy band Blue, said it was a great honour to take part in the fundraising event.

"The Prince does great work," he said.

Sir Tom Shebbeare, Chief Executive of the Prince's Trust, said: "Fashion Rocks is a hugely exciting fundraising event for The Prince's Trust. Music and fashion is a powerful combination."

Other stars taking part include Sheryl Crowe, Kelis, Bryan Ferry, Bjork, Sharleen Spiteri and Jane's Addiction.

Singer Ozzy Osbourne had been due to attend, dressed by Welsh designer Julien MacDonald, but pulled out.

Other fashion houses involved include Gucci, Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen and Prada.
