Daniel Boettcher reports: "Curiosity almost killed this cat"

The tabby is believed to have crawled into a car on the Peugeot production line in Coventry, and fallen asleep on Tuesday night.

But in the morning the car was put into the oven to set the paint, with the cat trapped inside.

Workers at the factory only discovered the cat, who they have named Scorcher, after the car emerged from the oven.

RSPCA inspector Paul Kempson said the cat's fur would have insulated it against the very dry heat and saved its life.

"Thankfully the workers who found him doused him in water straight away and halted the burning process. Scorcher is in pain at the moment but is putting on a brave face."

The vet who treated the cat, Joanne Westley, said it should make a complete recovery.
