Prison badly damaged in riot
Nearly 200 inmates at Haverigg Prison in Cumbria have smashed windows and started fires in a riot causing �1m of damage.

The Prison Service called in extra staff from other jails in the region and Cumbria Police secured the perimeter fence to prevent any escapes.
A spokesman for Haverigg Prison, which houses 600 inmates, said that rioters began to surrender from 0100 on Monday. By the morning all 190 prisoners in the area around the disturbance surrended.
They are now being moved to other jails across the North and the Midlands.
No cause known
It is not yet known what caused the disturbance.
The Governor of Garth jail, near Preston, Bill Rose-Quirie, has been brought in to run Haverigg to allow the resident staff to rest.
He said that the rioting prisoners had caused about �1m of damage, but he added that he was very impressed with the way the whole incident was handled.
