The royal tour and other celebrations to mark the Queen's 50 years on the throne come to an end. After travelling to every corner of the UK, the Queen and Prince Philip begin their summer holiday at Balmoral.
One million party in Mall carnival
The Queen watched from a Buckingham Palace balcony as one million people joined a spectacular climax to the Jubilee weekend. Parades, pageantry, and a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral brought well-wishers together for the celebrations.
Pop concert thrills palace crowd
A host of pop stars played before a thrilled crowd in the grounds of Buckingham Palace. Thousands more gathered outside the palace to watch stars including Tom Jones, Eric Clapton and Brian May of Queen on giant screens.
Jubilee celebrations begin
The Queen dined in Downing Street as Tony Blair brought together her previous prime ministers to celebrate her 50th anniversary on the throne. The event marked the start of the official Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Queen's Westminster address
The Queen used her Golden Jubilee address to both Houses of Parliament to dismiss any suggestion she might abdicate. She also made a point of stressing Britain's "remarkably" peaceful transition to a "multicultural and multi-faith society".
Jubilee tour begins
Thousands turned out in Devon and Cornwall to see the Queen as she began her Jubilee tour of the country. She visited the new National Maritime Museum in Falmouth and spent the evening in Exeter watching a musical performance by school children.
Royal visit to Omagh
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh paid an unscheduled visit to the Northern Ireland town hit by a terrorist bomb which killed 29 people. The bombing carried out by the Real IRA in August 1998 resulted in the largest single loss of life during the Troubles.
Queen meets Sven
The Queen wished the England team good luck in the World Cup when she met coach Sven Goran Eriksson while in Berkshire as part of her Golden Jubilee tour. She also met players Owen Hargreaves and Sol Campbell.
Jubilee tour arrives in Scotland
The Queen thanks the Scottish people for their support in her family's recent bereavements at a special church service in Edinburgh. The Queen's Golden Jubilee tour also takes her to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
By train to Wales
The Queen chose to begin her tour of Wales by train. A steam engine taking the royal train to Anglessey for official engagements before she travelled to Cardiff to make her first ever address to the Welsh assembly.
Queen leads Jubilee arts party
The Queen mixed with stars at London's Royal Academy of Arts as she opened the new Annenberg Courtyard, as part of her Jubilee celebrations. She has been the subject of dozens of portraits during her reign, despite not being a big fan of the arts.
The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II
