Here is a guide to some of the areas likely to be affected.

On the day of the funeral service road closures in London will be contained generally within the area of Piccadilly (the A4) to the north, Victoria Street (A302) to the south, Hyde Park Corner in the west and Whitehall in the east.

Grosvenor Place (A302), Millbank (A3212), Northumberland Avenue, Cockspur Street and Regent Street are within this area.

Pall Mall will be closed from Waterloo Place and Lambeth Bridge will be closed westbound except for buses.

These road closures will be in force from 0600 - 1330 BST.

A state procession will leave from Westminster Hall at 1130 BST and travel the short distance to Westminster Abbey, where the funeral service will take place.

It is expected to finish by 1225 BST.

Windsor

Following the funeral service, the cortege will set off for St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, the Queen Mother's final resting place.

It will set off through Parliament Square and travel down Parliament Street, Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade and Horse Guards Road.

The cortege will travel past the expected crowds on the Mall, Constitution Hill and then across Hyde Park Corner along the South Carriage Drive before exiting through Queens Gate and turning right onto the A4, Cromwell Road, at South Kensington.

The cortege will avoid the M4 and stay on the A4 until it turns off for the village of Datchet, which it is expected to reach at around 1315 BST.

Tributes at Windsor Castle

In Datchet, the procession will travel through Majors Farm Road, London Road, High Street, Windsor Road and Victoria Bridge.

Taking the B470, it should reach Windsor about ten minutes later where the procession will continue along King Edward VII Avenue, Datchet Road, Thames Street, Castle Hill, Henry VIII Gate to Windsor Castle.

The journey through Datchet and Windsor is expected to take around 20 minutes with the cortege reaching Windsor Castle at 1335 BST.

Roads in Windsor town centre will be closed from 1000 BST and approach roads to the area from Datchet will be closed from 1300 BST.

Public transport

In the capital, London buses and London Underground will be providing extra staff at key points to help passengers get to and from the Westminster area.

There will also be posters and a leaflet available at key mainline railway stations, underground stations and bus stations.

It will include a plan of the funeral route and travel interchanges to help with journeys.

Some central London bus routes will be affected from 0600 until about 1500 BST on the day.
