Camilla and Queen at Palace concert
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles
Charles and Camilla dined together at the Palace
Camilla Parker Bowles has accompanied her partner, Prince Charles, to an event in the presence of the Queen at Buckingham Palace for the first time.

The couple attended a classical concert at the Queen's official home in London.

But the Queen and the couple were not pictured together during the carefully stage-managed event.

The Queen and Mrs Parker Bowles have met just once before - at Highgrove for the 60th birthday of the former King of Greece, Constantine.

The Queen did not stay for dinner

The event was largely organised by Charles and his advisers to "normalise" his relationship with Camilla within the Royal Family.

European royals and heads of state were invited to celebrate the 75th birthday of Mstislav Rostropovich.

And Charles gave a speech praising the Russian cellist, who is due to appear at the Prom at the Palace concert in June for the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

Lavish banquet

Charles and Camilla dined together at a lavish banquet following the concert - but the Queen did not join her dinner guests.

Mrs Parker Bowles reportedly sat next to the king of Spain, on the same table as Charles and the queen of Spain.

Other members of the Royal Family at the event included the duke of York, the earl and countess of Wessex, the princess royal and her husband, Commander Tim Laurence, the duke and duchess of Gloucester, the duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael and Princess Alexandra.

Prince Albert of Monaco, and Queen Beatrice, Prince Claus and Princess Maxima of The Netherlands also attended.
