| Thursday, 10 January, 2002, 02:00 GMT Wolves player charged with affray ![]() The club is monitoring events 'closely' First Division footballer and former England youth international Adam Proudlock has been charged with affray, his club has revealed. The 20-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers striker will appear at Telford Magistrates Court on Monday in connection with an alleged incident at Christmas. In a statement on its official web site, the club said: "We have been informed that Adam Proudlock has been charged by police with affray. "This is in relation to an incident that allegedly took place in Newport, Shropshire, over the Christmas period. "Adam is due to appear in court on Monday (14 January) and therefore, for legal reasons, we are unable to comment on this specific matter. "However, as with any such incident that may involve any club employee, the situation will be monitored closely and once the facts have been accurately established, appropriate action will be taken if necessary." Knee injury West Mercia Police in Telford said two 20-year-old men and an 18-year-old man, all from the Newport area, were charged with affray after an alleged assault on 27 December. Three people allegedly sustained minor injuries in Upper Bar Street in Newport just before 0300GMT. "All three were bailed to appear before Telford Magistrates Court on Monday 14 January," said a police spokesman. Mr Proudlock, who was born in Newport, Shropshire, came through the ranks at Wolves and secured a first-team place under former manager Colin Lee last season.
