The national anthems of both countries were sung to open the service  The Queen, Prince Philip and the Prince of Wales were among the dignitaries who attended  The Union Jack and the Star Spangled Banner were laid on the altar at the beginning of the service  Actress Dame Judi Dench was asked to read a poem  Members of the New York Fire Service took part in the moving tribute  Prime Minister Tony Blair gave a reading  Some 800 relatives and friends of the 80 Britons who died in the World Trade Center attended the service  The Archbishop of Canterbury said there were "no adequate words for the evil and shameful deeds of 11 September"  The Queen met families of the victims of the terror attacks | |
