The best are Anna, I Call Your Name, And Your Bird Can Sing, Lovely Rita, Norwegian Wood, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Yer Blues, Savoy Truffle (Listen to those SAXES!) & Hey Jude.
Could've done without Revolution 9 & Blue Jay Way.
Charnie, USA

Even though they weren't big hits (which is probably why I never got sick of them) two of my favorite's are:
1. It's Only Love
2. Run For Your Life

Two I could live without:
1. What Goes On
2. Love You To
Jerry Kreitman, USA

Too many good ones but "THIS BOY" from the early period, "HERE THERE & EVERYWHERE" from the middle period and "FOOL ON THE HILL" from the psychedelic era stand out for many reasons. As for the "bad" ones I would say "BLUE JAY WAY" kind of drags on & on even though Harrison was, under the Indian influence trying to give the song a "ragga" touch; and "HELTER SKELTER" which kind of went off on a tangent with the Beatles dabbling in Heavy Metal sound, totally unlike them.
Abhijit Sen, India

1962-64 She Loves You - On Ed Sullivan, electrifying, and absolutely fearless.
1965-66 I Feel Fine - first use of feedback as music, and a rockin' tune.
1966-70 Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds - changed everything.
Chris Yeager, USA

For me, probably one of the best songs the Beatles ever recorded is a song that appeared buried at the end of side two of their White Album double set: I Will. Not a song of love found or "ove lost but, rather of love yet to be. Nowhere else in the Beatles canon, or in pop music in general, will one find a more poignant yet optimistic expression of longing. And which would I be happy never to hear again? As far as the Beatles are concerned, there just ain't no such animal. Not You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) (the Fabs at their goon-iest). Not the oft-dissed Mr. Moonlight (I think the skating-rink' organ is kitsch-y cool). Not even the misunderstood Revolution 9 (musique concrete for the masses). But if I were forced to choose my own 'least favorite' Beatles song, I'd have to go with, oh, I dunno, Long, Long, Long, but only because it goes on long, long, longer than it ought.
Bob Stahley, USA

Tops: Across the Universe, A Day in the Life. Flops: None.
Anand Rami, USA

My favourite for a long time is Girl,...curiously not gathered in any top-poll. My flop: Number 9 - I'm still wondering, is it a song?
Eufemiano S Amillategui, Spain

Definitely one the best Beatles song is Within You Without You because it was the pulse of an era, the holy 60s. With George's interest in the Eastern philosophies, a brand new world opened and our way of thinking has changed. Help!, Something, Let It Be, Eleonor Rigby, I'll Be Back, And I Love Her... are also little masterpieces. The worst: Revolution No. 9 and The Long and Winding Road (at least the Spector version) - sorry Paul!
Michel Laverdire, Montreal (Qubec)

The best songs of the Beatles: 1. In my life 2. Hey Jude 3. Eleanor Rigby 4. I am the Walrus. The worst: Maggie May
Daniel Enrique, Mexico City

I've been told you're polling the Beatles most/least favourite song. Unfortunately, I have no web access, so I cannot check out your website. Could you please cast my votes for me? They are: Best - While My Guitar Gently Weeps, best song ever written in the world - with George being so soulful, so tender. This song has not only an incredible melody, decorated with Eric's beautiful solo, but also best lyrics any of the Beatles ever wrote. Worst - well, I love the Beatles and they are my all-time favourite band. Therefore, I think they had no bad songs at all, and surely no songs I don't like. True, I see no point in Revolution 9. Linda forever,
Olga Makarova, Russia

The best Beatle tracks change with whatever mood I'm in: off the top of my head currently they are - Hey Jude, Flying, Tell Me What You See, Across The Universe, Drive My Car. Tomorrow it would no doubt be a different selection. Not that I play their stuff all the time, but I do return to it often. "Worst"? I prefer to say least favourite. Hmmm, possibly Act Naturally, The Inner Light, and one or two of their covers on Beatles For Sale. Unlike your other correspodents I like/admire Revolution 9! They dared to try something different and put it out into the mainstream.
John Moonan, UK

This is a difficult task at best! A few songs that stand out are: Norwegian Wood, Let It Be, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Here There and Everywhere, Yesterday, All You Need is Love, A Day in a Life, She's Leaving Home , Because, Come Together and I Want You (she's so heavy). Less to my taste: Run for Your Life and Revolution No. 9.
Nadine Franklin, USA

1962-64 She Loves You-- on Ed Sullivan, electrifying, and absolutely fearless.
1965-66 I Feel Fine - first use of feedback as music, and a rockin tune...
1966-70 Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds - Changed everything...
Chris Yeager, USA

I believe their best are: In my life (John Lennon) Here there and everywhere (Paul McCartney) Here comes the sun (George Harrison) Octopus' Garden(Ringo Starr)
John Monahan

It's not easy picking a favorite Beatles track because there's really no such thing as a bad one. Rubber Soul was a great album, and I guess Norwegian Wood is my favorite track. My least favorite song would be You Know My Name, Look-up The Number.
Louis Lorenzi-Prince, Eureka, Calif, USA

Worst - Tell Me Why", from Hard Day's Night. Best - much more difficult. There are so many to choose from but I will say "Paperback Writer". But I also really like Dear Prudence, Glass Onion and Fixing A Hole, The Fool On The Hill, Strawberry Fields.....I could go on and on. Favorite Album - Magical Mystery Tour.
Steve M, Northern Virginia, USA

My fave is One After 909" - a true rocker. The worst is Girl.
J Hierseman, Racine WI, USA

Best: I'll Get You.
Worst: N/A.
John

Beatlemania! In America we felt that we were in the presence of Gods as they touched our humble shores. So our teenage dreams mingled with their varied, unique music in such a way as to be inseparable from them. So with that bias in mind my choices are: Best: I Feel Fine, I'll Be Back, Strawberry Fields, I'm A Loser.
P.S I feel Paul McCartney was the greatest singer of our era, who comes next in the lineage from Jolson, Crosby, Sinatra, to Elvis. This, despite the fact I haven't chosen any of his vocals!
Worst: Mr. Moonlight.
Craig Leitch, Los Angeles, CA

Some of my favourites:
Don't Let Me Down, You Won't See Me, This Boy, I Will, Sexy Sadie, Revolution (fast), I Am The Walrus, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, You're Going To Lose That Girl, Two Of Us, She Loves You, Martha My Dear, If I Fell, Dear Prudence.
Least favourites:
Love Me Do, Paperback Writer, Yellow Submarine, Eleanor Rigby We Can Work It Out, Yesterday.
Richard Berry

Best: Rain.
Worst: Don't Let Me Down.
Both songs make me feel "dull", but Rain also gives me a kind of wondrous feeling - floating or drifting. Don't Let Me Down does not.
Maeda Kazuhiko, Japan

Strawberry Fields is the best track, but I can't think of a dud.
Ronald Hudson, USA

Tops (there are so many. Any shortlist is just a sampler): Something; In My Life; Eleanor Rigby; Eight Days A Week; A Day In The Life.
Flops (we tend to forget these, but even the Beatles are human. Again, this is only a partial list) Revolution No. 9; Maggie Mae; Old Brown Shoe.
Hanan, USA

Actually, I am a bigger Kinks fan than a Beatles fan (Ray Davies signed the licence plate on my 1967 Jaguar E-type roadster that reads 'SNYAFTN' after a performance this April at Saratoga, Calif.). So I am a big fan of British invasion groups of the sixties. I have all the Beatles CDs as well, and the anthologies. It's really difficult, if not impossible, to choose a single favourite record or song from a prolific and talented group like the Beatles. So I will give you my favourite top five:
1 A Day In The Life. A stunning opus of a popular song, the most ambitious summation of life in five minutes ever attempted or accomplished.
2 Day Tripper. One of the slickest, most stylish rock songs done.
3. I Want To Hold Your Hand. To this day it still cuts through to all the emotions.
4.'Eleanor Rigby'. One of the best vignettes of a human character ever done on vinyl, in the vein of Ray Davies' A Well Respected Man (it was a great decade for music, wasn't it?)
5.Nowhere Man. There's a whole bunch of great Beatle songs still out there: Yellow Submarine, Ticket To Ride, Eight Days A Week, but I threw a dart and this one came up-just between the other ones. God Save The Village Green.
Randolph Wright, Reno, Nevada

Hmm... Best song: Day Tripper. From a guitarist's point of view, a superb, seminal riff, and also a very 'music'al song. Worst: Revolution. What's going on here? "We're the Beatles, and we can make the public listen to anything we want!" Of course the whole Beatles catalogue has its undeniable highs, so the lows are really hard to find.
Siddhartha Bala, USA

Oh dear, I have just been reading other people's selections. To the musical genius who put Mr Moonlight as one of the worst tracks, I have to say you wouldn't know Rock 'n Roll if it came up and bit you in the bum. Mr Moonlight, with John's wonderfully aching voice, just missed my top four. Great song. The top four Beatles tracks are:
(1) In My Life
(2) Hello Goodbye
(3) Strawberry Fields
(4) Twist and Shout
There is no such thing as a "worst" Beatles track.
Frankie Connolly, Toronto, Canada

That's a tough question for any Beatles fan. I guess my favourite "song" is really a collection of songs. I am referring to the Abbey Road Medley. On that album, beginning with Because and continuing up through The End is really one long piece of music, with each song flowing right into the next one. This is probably my t favorite Beatles song. Close runners-up would be A Day In The Life, In My Life, Hey Jude, Something, I'm A Loser, Dig A Pony, and of course, Let It Be. As for my least liked Beatles track, well, that's a tough question too. There are certainly some songs that while sounding nice, seem out of place on their album. An example of this would be Her Majesty, Maggie Mae, What Goes On and so forth. I can't really give you a worst song, though, sorry. I guess the Beatles were just that good.
Franklin Williamson, USA

Being originally from Liverpool, I grew up to be sick of the Beatles - they were played ad nauseum on the local radio. Since coming away, however, I have come to appreciate that they were the most innovative band of all time - my personal favourites are I Want You (She's So Heavy), Strawberry Fields, Let it Be - the tracks I tend to skip are the ones sung by Ringo Starr
Andy, UK

My favourite Beatles tracks are: Twist and Shout - my earliest memory of music is hearing this song, it still sounds as great today as it did in 1963. In My Life - the perfect Beatles song - John not being cynical and Paul not trying to be 'cute' - my all-time favourite piece of music. Strawberry Fields Forever - the defining moment when they took pop music to a whole other place altogether. I can listen to this for hours. Hey Jude - Paul's greatest moment, for me the last truly great Beatles record. I don't care about the 'worst', life's too short to slag things off - be positive!
John Donovan, England

The best songs:
A Day In The Life
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Yesterday
Help!
And the worst..
Yellow Submarine
Honey Don't!
Good Day Sunshine
The best band ever? Undoubtedly!
Steve in Paris

Best: Hey Jude
Worst: Mr Moonlight
Bill Nealon, USA

Best : Taxman ( not their best but the one that gets me going ) Worst : Within You, Without You ( at least Yellow Submarine was a mickey take, with this one they were serious !)
Simon Sullivan

The best has to be Here, There And Everywhere. My wife and I agreed on it for our first dance at our wedding without even considering any other song. Tied for second are about 40 other songs, including many tracks from Rubber Soul, Revolver, Help, and the best album I ever heard... Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!
Thomas Glen Leo

I'll always remember I Want to Hold Your Hand. It was the first Beatles song I ever heard. It was so upbeat! I found that just singing along with the record helped to cheer me up. And of course, the Beatles were soooo cute!!!! And so different from the rock stars of the time. They were funny and irreverent. The song still cheers me up.
Nora Geer, Atlanta, Georgia USA

My top four tracks are:
Julia - for being simple and beautiful.
Twist And Shout - a man with a bad cold has never sounded so good.
Day In The Life - no comment needed.
Yesterday - there is a reason why it is the most covered track ever.
My worst four tracks are: Everything ever sung by Ringo - he couldn't drum, he couldn't sing but he got himself the right haircut.
The Long And Winding Road - too many bum notes for just one track.
Chains - sounds as if it should have been sung by Ringo.
Yesterday - it has been covered waaaaaaaaaaayyy too many times and played ad nauseum. But those are just today's lists (except for Ringo's singing!)
Hannah, UK

Bests must be Eleanor Rigby, Yesterday and Paperback Writer Not so goods include Yellow Submarine and Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
Greg Morgan, HMR Frankfurt

For me their worst song is everything that sounds too "messy", or psychedelic. My top Beatle-song will always be When I'm 64 .
Gerda de Haan, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands

Well, I don't think they're the best band ever! Can you say "hype"? This is the band that gave us the execrable Obla-di, Obla-da!
Emma Taverner, London

My top Beatles tracks are (in no order) I Am the Walrus, If I Fell, Your Mother Should Know, When I'm 64, and anything by George Harrison and his excellent sitar playing especially Within You, Without You. And the worse has to be Helterskelter and All You Need Is Love!
Stuart Woolley, Bath, UK

Norwegian Wood
I'll Be Back
Day In The Life
All You Need Is Love
Jim Sangster, UK

Best track by the Beatles is really hard to call. But for me, it has to be Helterskelter. The worst track is easier - Octopuss's Garden or anything that Ringo sang.
Gavin Yates, London

Best: Strawberry Fields Forever
Worst: Old Brown Shoe
Tommy Reynolds, USA

Tops:
Penny Lane
When I'm 64
Flops:
Twist and Shout
Hugh Jones
