| Wednesday, 12 September, 2001, 09:15 GMT 10:15 UK Train hits lorry on crossing ![]() There have been two accidents at the crossing An investigation is underway after a collision on a level-crossing in Cornwall. Calls have been made for safety barriers after a train collided with a lorry at the unmanned Tregoss crossing on the A39. The collision happened only 19 months after a similar incident at the same spot. None of the 17 train passengers were injured and the lorry driver was described as "walking wounded". Low bridge The driver of the train from Par to Newquay was slightly injured in the accident on Tuesday afternoon. Recovery crews worked into the night to remove the lorry from the side of the track. Wales and West trains laid on buses round the stoppage. The crossing is used heavily by lorries too tall to pass under an iron bridge on the A30 trunk road. The chairman of Roche parish council, Derek Newman, says the bridge on Goss Moor needs urgent modification. In February 2000, several people were taken to hospital when a car transporter was involved in an accident with a train on the crossing. The lorry driver claimed warning signals were not working. The line was still closed on Wednesday morning. | Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top UK stories now: Links to more UK stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
