'Wanted' man found shot dead
Alexander Woodcraft and Andrew Walker
Half-brothers Alexander Woodcraft and Andrew Walker
Detectives investigating the murder of two half-brothers in Lincoln have found the body of a man they wanted to question.

Police said that the man had died from self-inflicted gun-shot wounds.

They are not looking for anyone in connection with the third death but are trying to establish if all three are linked.

The bodies of half-brothers Andrew Walker, 26, and Alexander Woodcraft, 17, were found in different rooms of the first-floor flat in Reynolds Drive in Lincoln on Sunday evening.

Detectives said the body of the man was found in a white Vauxhall Omega car parked on a farm track near Kelby Lodge in Kelby, Lincs.

The discovery came followed a call to the police control room at 0800BST on Wednesday, 8 August, but the details have only just been made public.

Detective Superintendent Graham White said the find was a "significant development".

"We believe the body is that of a 35-year-old man who we were seeking to speak to in connection with the murder," he said.

Possible connection

A Home Office pathologist who carried out a post-mortem examination concluded the man had died from a "self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head".

Det Supt White added: "We hope to receive a ballistics report on the gun found in the car early next week and that may provide a connection between the gun and the murders in Lincoln."

The Vauxhall Omega has been removed and a full search at the scene is being carried out.

Det Supt White said that officers were continuing to search a flat on Campkin Road, in Cambridge.

When officers arrived they found two "suspicious" packages and several others flats had to be evacuated while they were investigated and police were satisfied the flat was safe.

Pub crawl

Detectives believe Mr Walker and Mr Woodcraft had been on a pub crawl just hours before they were murdered.

Both were found shot dead in Mr Walker's flat after Mr Woodcraft's father went looking for his son.

Andrew Walker lived mainly in the Cambridge area from 1993 until April 2001, police said.

He studied European Philosophy and Literature at Anglia Polytechnic University part-time until he withdrew from the course in January this year.

He also had a variety of part-time jobs in Cambridge, including bar work.

Alexander Woodcraft was a sixth form pupil at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Horncastle.
