Lucie Blackman's friend missing
Louise Kerton
Louise had failed her nursing exams
A schoolfriend of kidnap and murder victim Lucie Blackman has disappeared while returning from a trip to Germany.

Louise Kerton, 24, who had just failed her final nursing exams, has not been seen for 10 days.

Her fianc Peter Simon waited for five days at Dover for her to return.

She had been due to take a train from Aachen railway station in Germany, to the Belgian port of Ostend before boarding a ferry to the Kent port.

Miss Kerton, of Broadstairs, Kent, was returning home from visiting her 28-year-old fianc's mother in Germany.

Det Insp David Lawson said: "It's not known whether she has access to any money and we are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare."

A huge search was launched for Lucy
Louise has not been in contact since she was last seen at Aachen station.

Miss Kerton, who is dyslexic, was a close friend of Lucie Blackman when they both attended a private school in Sevenoaks, Kent.

A Japanese businessman pleaded not guilty last month to the rape and manslaughter of former air stewardess Miss Blackman.

Joji Obara, 48, is accused of plying Ms Blackman with drink and drugs and then raping her when she lost consciousness.

Father's appeal

Louise's distraught father Phil told The Sun newspaper: "If anyone has abducted Louise, for God's sake let us know she is safe.

"We feel sick with anguish and are terrified the worst has happened."

He said his daughter's disappearance was out of character.

"She is a shy, caring girl and we just want to know that she is safe," he told the paper.

He added: "Louise was deeply upset when Lucie's body was found.

"They were close and she found it difficult to deal with."

Anyone with information about her disappearance is asked to call Margate police on 01843 222127.
