Mr Miller, from Salford, said: "I was totally bemused.

"I've been away with my daughters every year and no-one has ever said anything to me.

"I asked her what on earth she was talking about but she just kept saying about 'everything that happens these days.'

"I put the phone down and reported it to the Welsh Tourist Board who told me to ask exactly why she would not take the booking."

When he phoned back, Mr Miller, a Royal Mail employee, was told by manager Janet Watson that she was worried that he would not be able to accompany his children to the toilet facilities.

He added: "I have not taken my daughters to the toilet for years. It is ridiculous."

'Not appropriate'

Ms Watson, manager of the Glangwna campsite near Caernarfon, said she was concerned that the girls may be staying in their own tent.

She said: "I thought Mr Miller would be staying in a separate tent and that the young girls would be vulnerable.

"I did not think it was appropriate with all the things that you hear are happening nowadays.

"I offered him the chance to book a chalet where they could have stayed together and he refused."

Mr Miller, who has looked after his daughters since splitting with their mother in 1991, said that he was planning to stay in the same tent as his daughters and that the second tent was to be used as a store.

He said: "I've booked a week's holiday at the site next door and we are all looking forward to the holiday."
