Lottery organiser Camelot has confirmed that the winner of the 20m jackpot in Saturday's National Lottery Extra draw has finally come forward. But it is unable to say whether it is one mystery ticket holder or a syndicate that has scooped the prize. If it has been won by an individual it would be a record sum for a single punter. Record A spokeswoman for Camelot said: "We can confirm that the prize has been claimed but the winner has requested no publicity. "We can't confirm whether its one person or a syndicate but it is the joint third biggest ever jackpot win." The biggest jackpot yet, 22,590,829, was shared between two people in June 1995. The lucky numbers in Saturday's draw were 6, 11, 21, 34, 46 and 48. Lottery Extra was launched last November and has only been won three times. Rules The win comes as a couple that were refused a 3m lottery jackpot because they missed the 30-day deadline for claiming on a lost ticket consider whether to sue Camelot. Martyn and Kay Tott answered a television appeal on 5 March over an unclaimed jackpot ticket bought for the draw six months earlier. The claimed they had lost the ticket but Camelot has said it will not honour their win because it would set a precedent for flouting the rules. However, it has been revealed that the National Lottery operator paid out 130,000 to a syndicate that missed the same deadline. |
