Everton footballer in court
Danny Cadamarteri
Striker Danny Cadamarteri's trial begins on February 28
Everton footballer Danny Cadamarteri has appeared in court charged with assaulting a woman in a late-night fracas.

The 21-year-old striker appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning charged with punching Joeline Joel, 24, on 1 October last year.

He is alleged to have broken her cheekbone in Hardman Street in Liverpool city centre.

Cadamarteri was commited to trial at crown court starting on 28 February.

He was remanded on bail on condition that he does not approach Ms Joel or any other potential witnesses.

Wearing a black suit and tie, the footballer spoke only to confirm his name and address during the short hearing.

Reporting restrictions were not lifted.
