British Library's century of news

The British Library has put two million digitised pages from 19th century newspapers online.

The pay-as-you-go service brings a century of history alive from Jack the Ripper to WG Grace.

Ed King, the Library's Curator for Newspapers, explains why they decided to digitise the material and shows how the website works.
