Heathrow airport feels the strain
Heathrow
Planes at Heathrow as seen from the control tower
It's a year since the alleged plot to blow up transatlantic flights in the UK. Over the past twelve months, what have been your experiences of travelling at Heathrow and other airports around the UK?

In July, extra security checks were introduced after the suspected failed car bombings in London and Glasgow. Heathrow Terminal 4 was closed by a suspect package.

Heavy rain also delayed some flights and volunteers were drafted in to shift a mountain of luggage.

Has your airport experience got better or worse over the past year?

The Victoria Derbyshire programme on Radio 5 Live will be having a special debate on the issue this morning. Send us your comments and questions to the programme's panel of air industry experts by filling out the form below. BBC News website readers have also been sending us their experiences of Heathrow this summer:

"My wife travelled after the London incidents began but before the Glasgow attack and before the threat level was raised. She was still waiting for her luggage eight days later."
Darren, Cheltenham

More than 100 flights were cancelled in July's security alert

"I'm a BA baggage worker.
BA's performance has dropped dramatically. Flights are delayed and baggage is missing their departures.
Management do not seem to care or want to rectify the problem."
Jim, Heathrow

"Working as a baggage handler for the last 15years, I have seen many changes in the operation but I'm afraid to say the new management team in place at the moment is trying to introduce new working practices that beggar belief. The BA baggage handlers are doing their best but it is very hard with one arm tied behind your back, hopping on one leg and with a blindfold on."
Warwick, Heathrow

"I arrived back at Heathrow from Lima, Peru. The baggage area was complete chaos with suitcases piled high all over the place and baggage falling off the loaded belts. All week I have been trying to get my suitcase back. When you call the phone number, you are told to call back later. When you go online, there are no updates. Nobody calls the mobile phone number I left. Everything is a complete shambles."
Peter, Maidstone

"On Monday 2nd July I travelled from Edinburgh to Istanbul via Heathrow, but my bag did not make it. The bag was finally delivered to me two hours before I was due to check-in for my return flight and guess what? I arrived back in Edinburgh but the bag did not make it back with me! I do wish to add that, at least the BA ground staff at check-in and the flight crew I encountered were polite, extremely helpful, and sympathetic to my plight."
Rajiv, Peebles

"On Thursday 5th July my husband and our three children took a flight to Canada. As our youngest child was 3 months, we took our pushchair up to the aircraft doors. We asked for assurance here that the pushchair would go in the hold as our little one needed it to sleep in on our holiday. We were promised that it would. However, arriving in Canada and after asking/searching over three hours we were told that our pushchair had joined the luggage mountain at Heathrow. We might get it tomorrow, next week or never. We had a three week holiday and our luggage never did reach us. We have been without our pushchair for a month now and I expect our daughter will be walking before we see it."
Nicky, Horsham

"I flew back into Heathrow from Alicante on July 20th, the day of all that dreadful weather. We were delayed in Spain and arrived two hours late. All the luggage had just be left unattended by the baggage reclaim belts and noone seemed to know what to do with it all. Otherwise I got though easy with no worries."
Anne, Port Talbot

"Departing on a business trip last week, the queue for security was terrible. Not because of extra measures but total mis-management. These people could not organise a party in a brewery! What impression of our country does this give visitors to our shores? I'm just glad that I will not be returning to Terminal 1 this time."
Dave, Yate
