Sunday has been a worrying day of when tidal wave hit.one friend always goes to sri lanka for christmas = got hold of her to hear she missed by 1 day as she was due to fly the next day, Another friend, husband and new baby live out on beach house in thailand. finlly got her to hear she has gone to bangkok to collect visitors from airport. Plus they were due in 2 days time to go to phuket for holiday= phew. however i also have friend in malaysia but in kuala lumpur but that should be safe. The damage was more a few kilometres past Auroville on the East coast road towards Chennai as those are low lying areas. For Sheldon Edwards of Hornchurch - when I saw your message I telephoned dear friends who live on the coast road at Muttukadu, Chennai, who told me that there is no problem for the Mother Theresa Home, it is on the other side of the road on higher ground.

My friends are much closer to the sea but, by God's grace, came to no harm. They said that the big problem in Tamil Nadu now is clearing up all the dead bodies which are still being swept back on to the beaches by the incoming tides. In Muttukadu they have enough food and water etc.,

To Ashton, Beatty, Rostant, Lewes, Sussex - Just to say that Ooty is on very high ground and not near the coast, so I don't think you need to worry too much if your mother was away from the coast when you spoke to her on Christmas Day, which was likely, if she was heading for Ooty.
