Scores of people have died in Kunduz province, Afghanistan, after an oil tanker which had been hijacked by the Taliban was hit by a Nato air strike. Warning: Gallery contains some graphic images.
Witnesses said Taliban militants were trying to take the tanker across a river bed when it got stuck so they tried to unload the fuel, joined by local people.
Dozens of injured people have been taken to hospital in Kunduz city, some of them reported to be suffering from serious burns.
Nato says the attacks targeted only insurgents, but it is investigating reports that civilians who were collecting fuel from the tanker were among those who died.
Correspondents say if is it proved that many civilians were killed by the air strike, it could be very damaging for Nato forces operating in Afghanistan.
Funerals have been taking place for some of the victims, with many buried in mass graves.
