Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapakse has declared a military victory over the Tamil Tigers after 26 years of bloody civil war.
Mr Rajapakse said the defeat of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) has freed his country from its "barbaric acts".
