Voters have been streaming to polling stations across India, on the final day of polling in the country's month-long general election.
Security was tight in Indian-administered Kashmir, where separatist groups have urged locals to boycott the vote and called a strike.
One Kashmiri who did vote was Sajjad Lone (centre), a separatist leader who not only cast his ballot but also ran for parliament - much to the chagrin of his comrades.
All constituencies voted in the southern state of Tamil Nadu - where regional parties often play kingmaker in Delhi. Former actress Jayaram Jayalalitha, leader of the AIADMK party, is tipped to win the state this year.
Millions of people in the vast city of Calcutta, West Bengal, were also voting. The state has the longest serving democratically elected Communist government in the world.
The arduous process of checking the identities of every one of hundreds of millions of voters is almost at an end. Results will be announced on Saturday.
