President Obama's national security adviser, General James Jones, has spoken about US relations with Pakistan and the safety of its nuclear arsenal amid concern about the increased threat posed by the Taleban.
The Pakistani President, Asif Ali Zardari is due to visit Washington this week.
Speaking to the BBC's Justin Webb, Mr Jones said the US would do everything it could, in conjunction with its partners, to prevent nuclear weapons falling into the hands of the Taleban.
