Squalid conditions in Mumbai slums

The slums of Mumbai are the setting for the hit film Slumdog Millionaire. But they are also the real-life location where two of the children who star in the movie, Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Ismail, live.

Rubina lives down a narrow alley, in a one room hut, next to the open area used as the slum toilet. Azhar lives near the railway line, right beside a canal full of rubbish.

Our South Asia Correspondent Damian Grammaticas shows us what the slum of Bandra is like for the children who live there.
