India's air force employs 500 female officers
An Indian court martial has recommended that a woman air force officer who complained of sexual harassment should be dismissed.

Anjali Gupta is India's first female officer to be court martialled.

The court in Bangalore convicted her of misappropriating funds, insubordination and failure to report for duty.

Ms Gupta denied the charges and says she was framed after accusing male superiors of sexual harassment. The air force rejected her harassment claim.

'Hounded'

Ms Gupta, who was not in court to hear the ruling, said she would continue her fight for justice.

"I have been hounded from the day I made the charges," she said.

She is one of 500 female officers employed by the IAF.

Her court martial, which lasted nine months, was the first in India which the media were allowed to cover.
