The Indian government has sent a high-level team to Bangladesh to asses security in Dhaka ahead of a planned summit of south Asian regional leaders. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to attend the gathering.
The 13th summit of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) is due to take place in Dhaka on 6-7 February.
Analysts say the latest developments in Nepal have cast doubt on whether the meeting will take place.
The summit was postponed in January following the Indian Ocean tsunami.
In the past some Saarc summits have been postponed because of the inability of one or more leaders to attend.
