The Indian Supreme Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to carry out further inquiries into a plan to construct a tourism complex near one of the world's most famous buildings, the Taj Mahal. The controversial plan was shelved in July.
The court also instructed investigators to complete, within three weeks, an inquiry into how officials approved the project which would have needed around $40m worth of investment.
The project was abandoned amid concern that it could cause the river Yamuna to overflow and endanger the Taj, a 17th century monument which is listed as a world heritage site.
