International aid donors to Bangladesh have ended their annual meeting with the government in Dhaka with calls for urgent measures to be taken against corruption. They said it remained a fundamental problem in Bangladesh, and called for a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the rule of law.
They said it would be difficult for them to increase financial assistance unless Dhaka addressed the issues effectively.
The meeting did not announce any new aid package, but donors said they would continue to support the government's efforts to eradicate poverty.
