A senior Christian leader in Pakistan, Cecil Chaudhry, has told the BBC that he fears for the safety of his community if there is a war in Iraq. He said that during the last Gulf conflict, some Pakistani Christians and churches were attacked, and he is concerned the same thing could happen again.
Mr Chaudhry said extremism is at a higher level now than it was then.
He also said that Christians in Pakistan had experienced problems during the American military action in Afghanistan in 2001.
A government spokesman told the BBC that precautionary measures were being taken to prevent attacks on the local Christian community .
