| Wednesday, 9 October, 2002, 08:38 GMT 09:38 UK Pakistan arrests 'terrorist' suspects The Pakistani authorities say they have arrested three men who they say were planning to carry out terrorist attacks to disrupt the general election on Thursday. Pakistan claims the men had links with the Indian intelligence service and were planning bombings in the cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The Rawalpindi Police Chief, Inayat Farooq, said they confessed to destroying a bridge and laying mines near the town of Muzzafarabad in March and to laying landmines on tracks used by the Pakistani army.
